Tethys Himalaya Kasauli – An Incredible Wellness Retreat

Chilling in the Himalayan forest

Come summer and you want to escape the scorching heat, somewhere in the hills. But this peak season also sees heavy traffic and hotels operating at full capacity. Should that deter you from taking some time off and soaking in the calmness you deserve? Well, not really, because here’s a paradise resort in the hills, away from the usually crowded hill stations. Here is what we experienced in Tethys Himalaya, Kasauli Hills, and our recommendations from here.

Tethys Himalaya-The wellness retreat

Location: The biggest plus point of the property

Hill stations get chaotic in the peak summer season. Places like Shimla, Manali, Dharamshala, Dalhousie, Kasol, and Kasauli get extremely crowded, eventually leaving no room for the peace of mind you visited the place for. Tethys is located in Kasauli Hills, off the Dharampur highway, 28 kilometers (17 miles) from Kasauli town. Since the property is nested in an offbeat place, away from the chaos of hilltowns, it is peaceful, noise-free, and a haven of calm.

Rooms: The feel of heavenly abode Premium and Duplex

From the moment we entered the property, the picture-perfect rooms enchanted us. The rooms are spotless and spacious. Greenery and clear blue skies greeted us from the large seamless windows in the villa. The beautiful décor of the room and the cozy seating on the porch screamed luxury.

The balcony overlooking the open-air café and organic farm was my favorite place in our room. And the large room gave me enough space for yoga in the morning.

You can choose between deluxe (405 square feet) and duplex rooms (510 square feet). The latter is the best fit for larger groups or families with kids. The way the duplex rooms have been built is absolutely impressive! Additionally, there is bunker space in the duplex room which faces a large window. It feels romantic and adventurous at the same time. Just imagine the view and the vibe on a rainy day!

Amenities: Everything at one place in Tethys Himalaya Kasauli

Apart from the aesthetic rooms, Tethys Himalaya Kasauli has plenty of amazing amenities. The in-house restaurant serves a huge spread of delicacies. Think North Indian buffet and South Indian breakfast to local Himachali cuisine, you’d cherish the delectable palate at Tethys.

To cool you off in the hot summer, the infinity pool comes to your rescue. We skipped the pool since we were not prepared and the weather was still chilly.

Right next to the pool, they have a spa and wellness center, for those who want to indulge in self-care.

One of the most beautiful areas in the Tethys premises is the outdoor café named Waadi Café. The dreamy setup surrounded by nature is too beautiful to miss. In the evening light, the café glows like a magical fairyland. Bonfire is arranged on request and sees the place transform into a swanky ground. This is an ideal place for events and corporate gatherings.

Another place to unwind and chill in is the Bar Lounge. Beautifully done with wooden interiors, the bar lounge is an enormous space with the choicest range of spirits. Picture watching a soccer match on a large screen in the bar lounge with a cheerful audience in the backdrop. That’s the vibe of the Bar Lounge at Tethys Kasauli where team meetings and parties are common.

2. Indoor games

From board games to table tennis, Tethys will spoil you for choices. They also have a children’s activity area.

3. Nature trails

With wilderness around, there are ample nature trails to explore. We explored the trails in the forest, right in the property’s backyard. Besides, soaking in the calmness and clean breezy air feels like meditation. Oh, I also collected a lot of pine cones, freebies from nature after all. Hehe!

4. Bhurshing Mahadev Temple

Around 13km from Tethys Himalaya Resort (Kasauli) is a lesser-known temple dedicated to Lord Shiva. Bhurshing or Bhureshwar Mahadev temple features a 51-foot-tall Shiva statue in the temple on a hilltop. Above all, the scenic beauty here is unmatched. You can trek the shorter route or drive up to the temple and soak in the blissful vibes. With less footfall and restrictions on selfies/videos, Bhurshing Mahadev temple retains its calmness. Our drive to the temple hardly took us 20 minutes.

5. The UNESCO site and haunted tunnel of Barog

The UNESCO SITE – Barog Railway Station

About 18 kilometers from Tethys, lies the UNESCO listed site of Barog Railway Station. Wondering why would you visit a railway station? Well, firstly the place earned a place on UNESCO heritage list because of its location, architecture and natural beauty. Secondly, as the legend goes, the old tunnel (closed now) was once haunted by the British engineer who built the tunnel. Nonetheless, the site is among the cleanest railway stations in India and extremely pretty.

Average Cost of Accomodation

The deluxe room on an average costs between Rs 7000 and Rs 8000. The duplex room with a larger capacity costs between Rs 8000 and 9500. With excellent service and so many amenities, its is worth the price. For deals and price details, you can get in touch with the management here.

Staying in Tethys Himalaya is worth every penny

Would we visit Tethys Himalaya Kasauli again?

Indian Mountain dog
The resident dog named Alex

Undoubtedly yes! With so much to explore and feel at ease in nature’s embrace, who could say no to a repeat visit? Also, the resident cats and dogs are a bonus for all fur baby lovers. Those who know me as an animal lover know that feeling. Tethys is not a regular resort in a touristy place. They promise an experience for you to cherish forever. Their top-notch service, great food, super gorgeous ambiance, in-house activities and so much more give us enough reasons to visit again. If I get an opportunity, the next time I would enroll in a yoga retreat and volunteer at a school nearby which the management at Tethys has adopted. Tethys has another resort in Narkanda too. It would be thrilling to visit that resort in winter.
