That’s exactly what led us to Chail, a charming hill station nestled amidst pine forests and rolling hills near Shimla. Located about 30 kilometers from Barog, Chail offers a refreshing escape from crowded tourist destinations, combining natural beauty with peace and tranquility. Also, for our stay, we wanted a property that offered comfort, scenic views, and modern amenities, which brought us to Maple Resort Chail.

Types of Rooms
The resort is equipped with modern amenities like an indoor & open terrace restaurant, an indoor activity room, a gym, well-maintained gardens, free wi-fi facility, and a lot more.
The resort has three types of rooms-
Deluxe Double Room
Perfect for solo or budget travellers, the deluxe rooms are cozy, comfortable, and affordable. You can also soak in the breathtaking view from the windows or unwind on the terrace.
Super Deluxe Room
From the stilted floor to the heavy, dark wood furniture, everything looks antique in the sizable super deluxe rooms. Furthermore, the attached balcony offers a stupendous view of the lush green mountains and ample space for gathering.
Executive Double Room
A super spacious room with an expansive balcony is perfect for business travelers or families. Besides, what makes this room different is the addition of a jharokha bed and a mini refrigerator. We spent a superb time together on the jharokha bed, adoring the view and gossiping for hours over tea.

Depending on the amenities offered and the type of room you choose, the average cost for a standard room ranges between Rs 5,000 and Rs 8,000.
Food
Maple Resort Chail has a limited menu for lunch and dinner. This is because of the distance from the main city and its offbeat location. But the food is delicious, and we had no complaints whatsoever. Despite the the rates being comparatively high, it is totally worth. We hence recommend Subz Haandi – a delicacy of mixed vegetables topped with cream and Chilli Garlic Noodles. You would relish these. In addition, complimentary breakfast has a wide array of options from paneer/aalu/gobi parantha and bread-omelet to poori sabzi and chana bhatura.
Following social distancing measures, the buffet is closed these days. You can enjoy the meal served at the restaurant or in your room.
Win-win for us
-The price for the executive room was slashed post-unlock phase, and we got an awesome deal.
-The resort is pet-friendly and they don’t mind stray dogs inside the compound. We had a great conversation with a water supplier who comes in a truck with his energetic little pet pug.
-Being environmentally conscious, the ‘best out of waste’ elements got us excited. After all, we get what we do for the environment.
-We’d like to give a bonus point to the extremely courteous and caring staff who went the extra mile to help us in a situation. So it happened that we forgot our camera bag at the reception while checking out. We realized this only upon reaching Dharampur. Staff member Kamal came all the way to Solan to return our bag. No words are enough to express our gratitude to him. In short, he was God-sent for us.
-The staff follows every safety protocol within the resort. From wearing masks and keeping hand sanitizers everywhere, they maintain sterility and prepare food hygienically. In other words, we knew we were in safe hands.
Overall, Maple Resort Chail exceeded our expectations. We headed home with a handful of happy memories and a phenomenal experience.
How to reach Chail
Chail is around 380 km from Gurugram and merely 41 km from Shimla. However, no public transport for direct connectivity is available. Hence, the most convenient way is to drive to the place. You can also hire a taxi from your local travel agent.
Best time to visit Chail
Chail can be visited at any time of the year. It is pleasant in summer and receives a fair share of snowfall in winter, precisely in January. So, pack a light jacket, even if you are visiting in summer. Winters require you to pack heavy woolens to beat extremely low temperatures.
